Pluto’s Fresh Food

Welcome to Fit to Order, a weekly feature that will showcase healthier options or suggestions of how to clean up different dishes.

As a foodie, my FAVORITE thing to do is try different restaurants. I quickly realized, my love of food and my fitness goals were clashing, until I started to change what I ate when dining out with friends and family. My friend Patricia suggested I make these substitutions as a regular feature on my blog. I’ll include the Yelp link if you want to check out the restaurant on your own.

I went to meet up with one of my friends at Pluto’s Fresh Food in Palo Alto. Pluto’s has HUGE salads, sandwiches and soups. I ordered a side salad which is still the size of an overflowing dinner plate. It came with a piece of Ciabatta bread that I didn’t eat. I have a weakness for bread so it’s hard for me to just take one bite and leave the rest, so it’s all or nothing.

For the salads, you pick your base (spinach, mixed greens, or romaine), a meat and 7 toppings.

My salad:

  • Romaine
  • Crispy chicken – should have picked grilled chicken but I was craving crunch
  • Broccoli
  • Cucumber
  • Strawberries
  • Sprouts
  • Feta cheese
  • Tomatoes
  • Red peppers
  • Honey mustard dressing

My friend had a spinach salad with steak and a vinaigrette dressing.
