Over the years, I’ve tried various fad diets, endless cardio workouts, fat burners, pre-workout supplements skipping meals and severely restricting calories. All this accomplished was quickly losing weight, then weight gain as soon as I stopped following the principles of the diet.
We know there are no magic pills or weight loss formulas, yet the temptation to search for a quick fix is always there. The only successful way to get fit is to eat clean and train mean. I know this is bad news for anyone allergic to exercise and discipline but you have to resign yourself to walking or moving in some way to lose weight as you get older.
My goal is to workout 30+ minutes and to find a way to eat clean consistently. Lately, I’ve been following the Bikini Body Mommy Challenge 4.0 on YouTube because it can be done from home and while traveling. It’s less than 30 minutes and alternates cardio and strength training days, 6 days a week. When I’m less energetic, it gets me moving and it helps me stick a program when I can’t get to the gym.
While the program may sound easy, you can increase the intensity by adding more weight, going faster or substituting more advanced moves. When I have extra energy, I add walking up and down 6 to 8 flights of stairs or a walk/jog post workout. It wasn’t until I went Clackfit last year that I started to enjoy strength training because I saw changes in my body. Stay tuned for my fitness journal entries.
