Travel Tip: Electronic Boarding Passes

October 5, 2015 by Cheryl Marquez Leave a Comment

Over the last 3 weeks, I’ve gone through 7 airports, three countries and two states. To get through this madness, I’ve discovered a few shortcuts to make it easier to get through the airport as painlessly as possible.

Airline Mobile App

PRO TIP: CHECKIN USING THE AIRLINE’S MOBILE APP

Some airlines offer mobile apps where you can checkin, get flight status, and retrieve your boarding pass on the go. If you travel light and only have a carry-on, you can bypass the hassle of checking your bag at the ticketing counter and head straight to security with your electronic boarding pass.

Electronic Boarding Pass

PRO TIP: TAKE SCREENSHOTS OF YOUR BOARDING PASSES

When you travel internationally and you are relying on buying local SIM cards to stay connected, you might not have mobile data when you arrive at interim destinations. Instead of stressing about getting on WiFi to get your boarding pass, take screenshots so you have access to boarding passes and other travel data when you are offline.

PRO TIP: SAVE THE ELECTRONIC BOARDING PASS AS YOUR LOCKSCREEN

Instead of fumbling around with the airline app, step up your game by using the screenshot of the boarding pass  as your lockscreen. Then when it’s time to board the flight, all you have to do is turn on your phone to have the lockscreen scanned. When traveling with your family, create an album for the trip, save screenshots of your family’s boarding passes into the album. Then all you have to do is navigate to the album and flick through the images of the boarding passes.

Next time, I’ll talk about how to make going through airport security as painlessly as possible.
