Cheat Eats Ikea

September 3, 2018 by Cheryl Marquez Leave a Comment

After a little hiatus, because of life and changing priorities, I’m back! The not-so-mini and I went to IKEA for brunch, to buy a bathmat, drawer organizers, and floating shelves. Before we started our shopping expedition, we decided to eat at the IKEA restaurant.

Breakfast

Most breakfast dishes were under $3 for eggs, crepes or waffles, bacon or sausage, and jam. Some breakfast items were only $1.99. We decided to wait for the lunch line to open, then picked up a chocolate conspiracy cake and the almond cake to have with coffee while we waited.

Lunch

We got the Swedish meatballs meal, I forgot how good this was! I didn’t finish the mashed potatoes, since I got full on cake and coffee. The almond cake was unexpectedly delicious, it reminded me of a Filipino dessert called Sansrival which has layers of crushed cashews and buttercream. The almond cake had a hazelnut chocolate topping, crunchy bits of almonds, and a tasty layer of buttercream, it wasn’t too sweet either.

  • $4.99 Swedish meatballs, veggies and mashed potatoes
  • $6.99 Salmon, veggies, and broccoli patty
  • $8.99 Braised beef tenderloin, veggies, and mashed potatoes
  • $2.99 Chocolate conspiracy cake

Kids Meals

The kids meals were smaller portions of the adult Swedish meatballs. We didn’t try the chicken tenders or the vegetable balls.

  • Grilled chicken & veggies
  • Vegetable balls
  • Swedish meatballs, veggies and mashed potatoes
  • Chicken tenders

Keto-Friendly Options

To make brunch keto-friendly, get all veggies with the Swedish meatballs and pass on the mashed potatoes. Otherwise, they had a broccoli cheddar soup or get the kids grilled chicken option.

I definitely indulged in sweets and hoped to burn off the sugar from the cake by walking through the showroom and warehouse to get what we needed. I was excited, Sunday brunch hasn’t been this inexpensive in years. We definitely enjoyed the food and bought a couple bags of Swedish meatballs, princess cake, and almond cake to take home. In our excitement over the food, we forgot to buy the floating shelves for her walls. Oh well, looks like we’ll have to go back for another Sunday brunch to buy her shelves with my gift certificate.
